"You get to condition your nervous system and communicate how you want it to function in the future." (54:22 in this cast)
Geoffrey Cole and Chad Olin, are the co-founders of Supermind, a technology and methodology that uses brainwaves to discover hidden trauma, reshape the nervous system, and bridge the gap between psychology and neuroscience.
Their work helps people overcome anxiety, depression, and trauma while optimizing mental performance through a revolutionary approach that connects mind and brain.
Geoff's journey began with overcoming his own 7-year battle with depression that traditional approaches couldn't resolve. This led him to develop a framework for measuring and transforming unconscious patterns using brainwaves that has now helped thousands of people including me!
I went through a 10 day Supermind program myself and can confirm they are doing some powerful stuff. The program helped me more deeply establish more conscious authorship of my nervous system.
This conversation bridges what I see as an artificial divide between the brain and mind which has limited our understanding of human potential and healing.
This episode is great for:
People struggling with anxiety, depression, or trauma
Those interested in measuring and understanding their subconscious mind
Anyone wanting to optimize their mental performance and wellbeing
Healthcare practitioners interested in bridging psychology and neuroscience
Leaders looking to understand how mental patterns impact performance
Ideas that really stuck out to me:
Psychology and neuroscience currently operate in separate silos. Psychology dealing with the "mind" and thought patterns, neuroscience focusing on measurable brain activity. This division has limited our ability to understand and treat mental health holistically.
Most of our mental activity is unconscious. The unconscious mind operates in specific frequency bands (0-3 Hz), comprising 75-85% of total mental activity. We're only aware of about 10% of what shapes our experience.
EEG and brainwave analysis provides a bridge. We can now objectively measure unconscious belief patterns and resistance. This provides a data-driven window into subconscious programming that was previously invisible.
You can measure resistance to positive beliefs. When someone says an affirmation like "I am safe", spikes in certain brainwave frequencies reveal where the unconscious mind disagrees, pointing to unresolved trauma or programming.
To help visualize how this works, here's a breakdown of different brainwave frequencies and their relationship to consciousness:Past trauma creates "instructions" for nervous system function. Early experiences create operating patterns that feel completely normal, even when they don't serve us. Unless we consciously reprogram them, these patterns persist.
We are conductors, not victims, of our nervous system. Every thought rewires our brain and every bodily response shapes our thinking - making us powerful architects of this mind-body partnership rather than passive recipients of old programming. By understanding this dynamic relationship, we can consciously transmit new "operating instructions" to transform both our mental and physiological patterns.
What hooked me to do Supermind was Geoff showing me how my brain indicated that early prenatal experiences had created unconscious beliefs about safety that were still impacting how my nervous system functioned decades later. This explained of things I have been through.
I’m excited to see more people connecting measurement and science, with the innate power of consciousness.
If this topics interests you, I think you’ll enjoy this conversation!
