Erin Claire Jones is a Human Design expert, executive coach, and author of the new book How Do You Choose? Over the past 10 years she has helped thousands of individuals and companies discover their unique energetic blueprint. In this conversation, we explore how understanding your Human Design can unlock greater success, flow, and abundance in every area of your life.
This was one of those conversations that unlocked multiple ahas for me. Since we spoke, I have been leaning into learning more about my design and aligning to it, and I must say, it’s been incredibly helpful.

Ideas that really stuck out to me:
Human design is your energetic operating manual, not a personality test. Unlike other systems that describe traits, human design reveals the mechanics of how you're meant to move through the world with the most flow and least resistance.
There are five core types, each with their unique energy signature. Generators and Manifesting Generators are the natural doers with boundless energy when excited. Projectors are guides and leaders who need rest between bursts of activity. Manifestors are initiators who value freedom and work in energy bursts. Reflectors are mirrors who need time to make decisions and are highly sensitive to their environment.
Your energetic signature reveals when you're on track. Each type has a specific feeling that indicates alignment. Generators feel deep satisfaction, Manifestors experience peace, Projectors feel success, and Reflectors experience surprise and delight. These aren't just nice feelings, they're indicators that you're creating from your zone of genius.
Understanding your design gives you permission. A lot of things I have done are outside the norm which has made me question them. I know see many of these align to my blueprint which has created a greater sense of permission to operate this way.
Multi-passion can be a superpower, not a problem. If you're constantly starting new projects and reinventing yourself, you might be a Manifesting Generator like me living out your design perfectly. Every experience builds toward the next even when the connections aren't immediately obvious.
Decision-making mechanics unlock your path. Your authority in human design reveals how you're designed to make decisions through gut instinct, emotional clarity over time, or other specific methods. Following your unique decision-making process leads to choices that create abundance rather than regret.
The old paradigm is rooted in identifying a goal, making a plan, and pushing through with willpower and overcoming obstacles through sheer determination. This may work for some people, but is actually in conflict with many of our designs (including mine).
I learned that I’m intended to remain open to the opportunities that come my way. Although I’ve been doing this for a few years, this conversation gave me a greater sense of permission that this is how my design functions best.
Erin shares that true and sustainable abundance isn’t about limiting what you can do or abandoning ambition, but rather about aligning with your natural strengths and energy patterns so that creation becomes a process of flow rather than force.
When we stop swimming upstream and start working with our design the path to success becomes not only more easeful but far more fulfilling.
