Great piece. I couldn't agree more Scott and while I am not using it to build applications at this point it is certainly helping me to advance my own consciousness journey and research. I need to level up on AI and a few friends and this article have inspired me to do it. I feel like I am thinking of and using these tools like it is 2024 and not Feb 2026 so I need to dive back in and understand what's possible now because I keep seeing people like you say that incredible things. Gordy Rose (Founder of DWave), says that standing next to his quantum computing machines with their heartbeat, is like standing next to an "alter of an alien god". He also says that AI is like summoning the Lovecraftian Great Old Ones, and that putting them in a pentagram and standing there with holy water does nothing, and if we are not careful, they are going to wipe us all out.
Interesting perspective. It is pretty much impossible to avoid AI at this point. I just hope we can figure out how to manage the HUGE energy and water requirements without accelerating devastation of this one and only blue green planet.
