Gay and Katie Hendricks are renowned authors and teachers in the world of relationships, body intelligence and personal growth.
They are the founders of the Hendricks Institute, have published over 50 books, and teach in countries all over the world to help others enhance creativity, intimacy, and ease. They’ve also been mentors and inspiration to many leaders in the consciousness space such as the Conscious Leadership Group.
In this conversation, we discuss the art of conscious loving and how to use your relationship as a conduit for personal evolution and creativity.
I find Gay and Katie’s relationship and career incredibly inspiring. I hope to be married for 40+ years sharing the gifts of consciousness with my partner like they are!
Ideas that really stuck out to me:
1. Unprocessed shame gets passed around in relationships, leading to stagnation and repeated conflicts. The way out of this situation is to face the shame so it can be healed
2. Getting to the bottom of unconscious patterns that control your life can be as simple as just beginning to get curious about them. An easy question you can start to ask when things go off track is, how did I create the situation?
3. Taking radical responsibility is the key to stepping out of victimhood and into alignment with the creative flow of the universe. This is true in all relationships, including how we relate to life itself
4. Gay and Katie advocate for radical truth in relationship. This relationships can feel scary, but the upside is much more freedom and a deeper connection. When you withhold truth you are unconsciously creating distance in the name of self protection
5. Many of us have atrophied "wanting muscles" due to conditioning. We think it’s wrong to want things or that we’re selfish or egoic. This can actually block creativity and magnetizing positive things in your life
6. To usher in a new phase of humanity, we need to invent new stories. This process starts with examining the existing stories, recognizing their inherent hollowness, and beginning to author a new future that is aligned with our true nature.
I hope you enjoy this conversation!
