Hi Scott. I very much enjoy your podcasts. I would love you to do a podcast with Bernardo Katsrup. He has developed metaphysics regarding consciousness that I feel will help many listeners ground your thought provoking and inspirational podcasts on a firmer philosophical ground. I think you will find his philosophy called idealism not only compatible with your work but supportive. Thanks again for your podcasts. Keep the coming
I checked out Bernardo's website and it indeed looks very interesting and aligned. Is there a particular interview / podcast / or video he's done that you think is worth checking out as a starting place?
Bernardo's extensive knowledge spans physics, computer science, philosophy, psychology, and religion, allowing him to articulate his views in diverse contexts. This breadth of understanding can be intimidating to some.
Understanding his metaphysical views can be challenging. It took me several listens to grasp the concepts in the first podcast, but once understood, they offer an empowering model of the world and our place in it.
The fundamental question Bernardo addresses is the nature of our world. The conventional materialist view is that the world is physical, observed through our senses, with consciousness emerging from our physical brains. This "strawman" can be extended with a dualist ontology, proposing two fundamentals: the physical and consciousness. Bernardo goes a step further with idealism, suggesting consciousness as the sole fundamental reality, leading to a more parsimonious and coherent ontology.

Thanks Hal! I love to hear it.

Hi Scott,
I've been exploring the work of Bernardo, who also manages the [Essentia Foundation](https://www.essentiafoundation.org/). My journey began with his podcast on [Bloggingheads.tv](https://bloggingheads.tv/videos/64093?in=1:20), followed by numerous others including an episode on [ZDoggMD's YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZWp0bnMBbM&ab_channel=ZDoggMD). His book "Science Ideated" was a captivating read.
Bernardo impresses me with his intellect, creativity, authenticity, reasonableness, and politeness, though opinions about him vary. For instance, a critical article on Medium labels him as an "idealist cult leader" (see [Paul Austin Murphy's Essays on Philosophy](https://medium.com/paul-austin-murphy-essays-on-philosophy/bernardo-kastrup-the-idealist-cult-leader-who-endlessly-abuses-others-bee88bc404a)). Additionally, his podcast with Sabine Hossenfelder is often cited, which can be found [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJmBmopxc1k&ab_channel=TheoriesofEverythingwithCurtJaimungal). I recommend you listen to it.

Thanks Hal for this thorough answer and direction. I am going to listen to a few of his conversations and go from there. Happy new year!
I would love some “meeting notes” for these audios! I skim read articles as a busy mama I don’t always have chunks of listening time :)
Thanks Jenn! You mean like a transcript or more like bullet points with time stamps? Both?
Honestly, either one!
Okay cool. Stay tuned
