Greed vs. Gardening? Otherwise, it sure seems like we're saying the same thing.
"Purpose + intention + integrity" - in other words, "investing" (time, attention, effort) in things that grow, vs. simply harvesting non-renewable (anything). Or... as the saying goes, "those who are not busy living, are busy dying." It's a matter of mindset, and attitude. Nothing particularly magical or mystical about it - basic physics & cognitive science. (Then again - there is something a bit magical about the fact that, if you pour energy into a closed system, order spontaneously develops. :-) )
I think the main distinction that implies mysticism or connection to something greater than predictable cause and effect is the notion that certain gardening activities like generosity to others without expectation result in improbable or unexplainable phenomenon or good fortune. I'm not sure if you have experienced that, but I have. It points to the same virtues, but seems like a slightly expanded reality paradigm of cause and effect than just doing good deeds
Ok... but "what goes around, comes around" doesn't really require a mystical explanation - be it karma or quantum weirdness. Attitude, contribution to the general zeitgeist. Kind of like faith healing - mostly the placebo effect - can be triggered with meditation or hypnosis just as easily as laying on of hands. As an Engineer, I've found the more direct explanation is more likely to "work."
I respect what you’re saying but also just think there is an added component that incorporates what you’re describing that goes beyond linear cause and effect that you can see more clearly as awareness expands. I can’t unsee it. Appreciate this discussion tho!
Well sure. The question is whether it's "magical" or supernatural - or ultimately something we can understand. My experience - both as an engineer, and as a one time imbibed of lots of psychoactive substances - is that it all comes down to well understood system behaviors (NOT linear cause and effect). Not always easy to see, or analyze, or manipulate - but not magical. Now LIFE, and negentropy (pour energy into a closed system and order spontaneously emerges), quantum entanglement & other quantum weirdness - and collapse of the state vector only when observed - those are pretty magical, and (IMHO, and in Feynman's) likely beyond human comprehension. But, if taken as axiomatic, understanding and tapping into abundance is pretty plain to anyone who pays attention - no additional magic required. At least that's been my experience. The hard part is looking in the right places, and knowing how to look. But we may actually be saying the same thing.:-)
