Great compilation and synthesis of various models of consciousness shift. As an environmentalist and spiritual journeyer one of the things that gives me hope is that evolution in nature rarely happens without pressure. Conditions change and the organism has to change to adapt and thrive. I hope that will be the result of the polycrisis modern humans have created.

Great analogy and I agree. The other thing in nature that I think is a positive reflection, is the tendency of systems to move towards wholeness. As a part of our nature, that is our tendency as well...though I understand why we can lose sight of that

What’s actually happening is that humanity is currently in the midst of an Avataric cycle. In other words, infinite, still silence is roaring. The divine oneness is giving all in creation a spiritual push towards awakening.

The divine ocean of love is one. The one ocean moves and causes bubbles to form on its surface. The bubbles are ignorant of their source until the ocean moves and progressively causes the bubbles to burst and experience their oneness with the ocean.

The one is doing everything… all else illusion.

Appreciate your perspective Jack. The notion of the cycle reminds me of the Yugas from Sri Yutkeswar. Are you familiar?

I think we are currently in that "Dark Night of the Soul". But the Awakening is happening. Thanks for the reminder

Awesome stuff Scott, so in-line with many of my thoughts of late. It can be kinda hard to tell if there's some massive shift happening, or it's just what we see reflected back at us within reality itself (aka an echo chamber) but as you said, consciousness is always expanding - it's the nature of consciousness. I do think expansion at least for humans is bound by interfacing bandwidth though, i.e. imagine I could telepathically send you (and everyone else in a mental forum) this message rather than spend 5 mins typing it out. With that will come the inevitable fallout and 'negatives' of course.

On AI and fears that it'll gain sentience... we can't even (objectively) figure out the schemas that map out how consciousness works, so how could AI ever become truly conscious - and we're the one's coding it. It just seems... impossible?

PS how do you find Wilber's stuff in contrast to Hawkins? I'm excited to dive into it soon!

Thanks man! That's an interesting point re: interfacing bandwidth. I imagine though in a time of the printing press, the concept that I could have all information at my fingertips within seconds (the internet) would have seemed completely chaotic and impossible.

I am about to release a podcast with Andres from Qualia research that talks about the difficulty of AI sentience. He provides an interesting perspective.

I like Wilber's stuff, but haven't gone as deep in it. He's written a zillion books. I honestly became less interested in these universal models relative to focusing on my own experience shortly after I got in it

Oooo! Super excited to check that pod out. On the models, I feel you on that for sure. Wilbers had an interesting life it seems.

Yeah there was an interesting mark manson article on him. Might be worth checking out

Thanks Scott. I find your charts so helpful, especially Human Consciousness Continuum and Creator Consciousness.

I am now 88. I have been on a very long and unusual journey through Christendom. I created my first website in 2000, that became the foundation of my earlier blogs.

I have been familiar with Spiral Dynamics and the Enneagram for a few years, and was introduced to the place of Conscious Evolution, Intuitive Intelligence, Universal Consciousness . . . just over 3 years ago.

I was a very active Anglican in the UK (read Episcopalian in America), before spending 20+ years with what some have called a Christian cult. For the last 25 years I have been an outside observer of Evangelical Christianity, especially in America. I was very involved with the Emerging, Emergent and House Church scene on the early 2000's and stopped attending church in 2009.

I have a story to share. I just don't know where to start, and technology has now got the better of me.

I am in the process of updating the introduction to my blog on WordPress. Seeing this post I've just loaded my introduction to Substack. If any of your readers are interested I'd appreciate any thoughts they might have.

How do you share such a long journey in any meaningful way. If anyone finds the post interesting, I'm really looking for some assistance.

Thanks for sharing Pete. It sounds like you've been on quite the journey! My sense is to just begin sharing your experience and see who it attracs. I think the author Bowen Dwelle does a nice job sharing his memoir / experience in more bite sized chunks

If memory is correct, Sri Yutkeswar was Yoganada's master. Yugas are the 4 cycles of creation and within the yugas are avataric cycles that occur approximately every 700 then 1400 then 700 years etc.

Thats correct. That’s cool! Have never heard of them

Thank you for sharing your great insights! 🙏 It's indeed easy to focus on the darker aspects of consciousness development, to see the mountain of problems facing our world.

At times, it can feel like we're collectively trudging through thick mud. Yet, when I look closer around me, the inherent love and humanity present in people around me becomes so clear.

I, too, am filled with hope. In the grand scheme of our development, this challenging phase appears to be a crucial, although difficult, step in the evolution of our collective consciousness. It can be very painful to see at times though. One step at a time.

Thanks Danique! I'm glad you are able to see the light. I agree that one step at a time, one foot in front of the other, coming back to the present moment, seems to be a much more enjoyable way to experience the change we are going through

Beautifully explained. Thanks for that. I'd never thought to question how people in previous ages would have handled modern technologies and it makes sense that they probably would have used them in a less temperate way.

Thanks Dan! Yeah, it's fascinating to think about. I think there's lots of examples of the ruthless use of the most sophisticates weapons/tech they had at the time.
