This week few people asked me to send them my favorite articles.
I realized that there are many newer subscribers over the past year here and you’ve probably just been receiving podcast articles from me.
I used to write a lot of long form articles on consciousness and I chilled on it when I began writing my book. It was just too much.
I think there’s a lot of useful stuff buried in the archives so I thought this would be a good opportunity to share my faves with a brief blurb about it if you’re newish here.
I’m also interested in experimenting with a new form of newsletter, but not quite sure what that is. I’ve taken a stab at the end with an idea I have. Let me know what you think.
Oldies But Goodies
These were some of my personal faves from the archives.
From Becoming A Somebody to Becoming A Nobody - my spiritual “coming out” piece. I share a background on how my spiritual awakening happened and gradually took over my life while in startupland.
Learning To Trust Life Unconditionally - trust is one of the things I see people struggle with most. The big idea is to use the moment’s you are not trusting as an entry point to discover the patterns that are creating this automatic way of relating to reality. You can use these to gradually re-architect your consciousness reference system and retrain your heart to remain open.
The Miraculous Responsive Reality - Reality is continuously unfolding for the evolution of your consciousness. This realization changed everything for me, turning every agitation or inconvenience into an opportunity for greater awareness, healing, and realization. It also caused a shift from viewing reality through linear cause and effect, to a deeper recognition of why everything is happening. The other nice thing about this development is you don’t have to seek anymore. Life will just deliver your next lesson predictably. Looking for it is no longer required
letting go Intellectually Vs. Capital L Letting Go - You haven’t really let go, until you truly are at ease with whatever happens. It’s one thing to say this, and another reason to actually get here.
I used to think manifesting was bullshit. Here’s what I think now - Your consciousness is always manifesting. You just don’t realize this until a certain depth of awareness because you can’t see most of your subconscious. The more aware you become, the more you recognize the coherence between the inner and outer world. The inner/outer becoming increasingly unified is more a recognition than a new happening. So manifesting is less doing a technique right and more about developing greater awareness and realization. Ironically, the deeper you go, the less you care about manifesting.
The Most Underrated Virtue In Consciousness Evolution - This post is about humility, something most of our society doesn’t give a shit about, but many spiritual masters do. Humility is essential for the heart to continue to open. The deeper meaning of humility is to see all things as equal. The more equal seeing, the less separation. The more the heart opens, the more you can receive information on a heart to heart level. This is how many masters pass knowledge to their students vs. on the intellectual level.
It Took Me 34 Years To Understand My Ambition - Most of my decades of overachievement was driven by unconscious low-self esteem. It took me recognizing that I couldn’t do nothing and be okay to see this clearly. Understanding the Responsive Reality concept ^, it became clear how life positioned me to be ill for a long time so that I could eventually realize where my incessant drive came from and free myself of this burden
The Confusing Paradox and Limitations Of Being Determined To Get Enlightened - Many people apply their ambition to spirituality. I did. And the. when I thought I wasn’t, I still was. This is useful in the beginning, but has a ceiling. The attachment to becoming enlightened (and quickly) needs to be let go of
Getting Rich So You Can Do Whatever You Want - This was once my goal. Eventually, I saw this was a shallow form of freedom. Most rich people can’t even not be productive for a day and feel okay. So can they really “do what they want?” Or are they just a slave to their subconscious patterns? This is like counterfeit freedom
Navigating the Growing Pains of Energetic Puberty - Becoming energetically sensitive can suck, but it can also be quite useful. This transformation is a lot like puberty and I think this story is useful for anyone going through this
A Framework For Finding Business Ideas and Investments In Consciousness - A fun article applying unified models of consciousness to discovering business ideas. I still think this is a useful way to think about things from a macro view
How Societal Consciousness Dictates the Market for Any Product or Idea - Another businessy post. Important to understand if you want to create stuff, especially in the consciousness and spirituality space. This can help shape where you want to play…though I’m not really sure you have a choice if you keep going down this path anyways. Life will just show you
New Newsletter Idea
I want a way to stay in touch with people and share things that are useful besides podcasts.
Because I have a lot going on, I would like to find a format that is quick to produce, fun to read, and fun for me to write.
I really like
newsletter Tings. It’s kind of a curation of things that are easy to consume. I don’t think will work for me because I don’t really consume a diversity of information. I pretty much just go deeper on RenXue and my practices. So an idea I had is called Realizations and Reinforcements. The gists is to every few weeks share some “aha’s” (realizations) and then things I am reminded of again and again in bullet point form.
Here’s what it might look like.
Realizations:
Any physical habit can be used an entry point to understanding the consciousness pattern creating it
The voice is more powerful and important than I gave it credit for
The more I just share business ideas and projects, the more people seem to be down to help me
More people have had ESP experiences than I thought
AI is getting a lot more powerful and I’m pretty excited about how it can support human connection and co-creation
Reinforcements:
When someone writes a nasty comment to me etc, there’s really no need to share my opinion back or with the world. What matters is my reaction which is an internal thing.
Giving and receiving is one. Tip, donate, and spend to support others generously.
Posting on LinkedIn is fun for me. I actually like it better than twitter. Feels cozier for me for some reason. Maybe because I lived in B2B SaaS world so much and ppl can’t just be anon there
That’s all I have for now. I guess this is kind of like a public journal. I’m not sure if this is actually interesting or useful.
What do you think?
I hope you have a great start to your week.
-Scott
I like the potential new newsletter format!
I think it’s a great idea. I, too, gave up writing on Substack for about a year to finish the manuscript. It’s been rolling around in the back of my mind for a while now to start a new publication and finally did late last week. My writings with Humanity’s Shift were often deeper explorations and were much more formal. I’ve wanted to do something that was more for me and personal insights about life. I think it’s a healthy move to explore new avenues that flow easily out of your life experiences, almost like a journal.
